Piggy Bank Philanthropy

At Defiance Area Foundation, we believe that everyone, no matter their age, can make Defiance County a better place to live, work and raise our families. That is why we are excited to launch our newest initiative: Piggy Bank Philanthropy. This campaign is designed to teach our children the impact of giving and to inspire the next generation of philanthropists.

How it Works:

  1. Pick up a Piggy Bank: Children can pick up a piggy bank from the Foundation at 613 West Third St. Defiance, OH during business hours. 
  2. Fill with Love: In time, children should fill their banks with their own money. This can come from allowances, chores, or small fundraisers they create.
  3. Choose a Cause: Once the bank is full, the excitement begins! The child can then choose a cause, organization or someone in their community they are passionate about supporting.
  4. Make a Difference: The child can then donate the money they’ve saved to their chosen initiative. This act of giving empowers them and helps enhance our Defiance community!
  5. Share the Story: The Defiance Area Foundation wants to celebrate these young philanthropists! Parents, snap a photo and submit your child’s story, explaining the impact they have made! We will share these heartwarming stories on our social media channels to inspire others too!

Get Involved :

  • Pick up a Piggy Bank: Stop into the Foundation during normal business hours M-Th 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, or Friday’s by appointment. Call (419) 782-3130 for questions.
  • Follow the Journey: Stay updated by following us on social media or reading our stories below. Look out for stories of our young philanthropists making a difference!
  • Spread the Word: Share our social media posts with friends and family. The more we spread awareness about the impact of giving, the greater our community will become!
