Student Raises $1,300 For Her Own School Through Piggy Bank Philanthropy

Some of the most meaningful acts of generosity come from giving back to the people and places that have made a difference in our own lives.

That is exactly what inspired Jenny, a student at the Defiance County Board of Developmental Disabilities’ Good Samaritan School, to participate in the Defiance Area Foundation’s Piggy Bank Philanthropy initiative.

Through determination and generosity, Jenny raised an incredible $1,300 to support programs at Good Samaritan School, the place she proudly calls her school community.

“I chose Good Samaritan School because they play an important role in my life,” Jenny shared. “I attend school here and have experienced firsthand the support, opportunities, and sense of belonging it provides.”

For Jenny, Piggy Bank Philanthropy was about much more than collecting money. It was an opportunity to give future students the same experiences she has enjoyed.

Making a Local Impact, No Matter the Age

Her donation will help support meaningful programs and community-building opportunities such as Parent Lunch, Grandparent Lunch, Leader’s Farm, and other activities that strengthen relationships between students, families, and the community.

“I want to help create meaningful programs and community connections so current and future students can experience that same sense of inclusion and support as I have,” Jenny explained.

Her story beautifully illustrates what Piggy Bank Philanthropy is all about. Every participant chooses a cause that is meaningful to them, saves toward a goal, and discovers that generosity is not measured by age but by heart.
