Sufficient Grace Ministries Memorial Fund
A Lasting Legacy for a Short but Significant Life
At the Defiance Area Foundation, we are honored to announce the creation of the Sufficient Grace Ministries Memorial Fund, established in loving memory of Paxton Jordan Schroeder, who was born into heaven at just 28 weeks gestation in 2019. Though Paxton’s time on earth was brief, his impact is just beginning.
In tribute to their son, the Layne and Chelsie Schroeder family and Paxton Jordan Schroeder Memorial Fund donated $3,000 to launch this charitable agency fund at the Foundation. Once the fund reaches $10,000, it will begin generating annual grants for Sufficient Grace Ministries (SGM), a locally rooted nonprofit that offers support, resources, and comfort to families facing the loss of a baby during pregnancy or infancy.
Sufficient Grace Ministries has touched the lives of countless families in Defiance County, across the state of Ohio, and beyond. Through memory-making services, bereavement care, and compassionate outreach, they walk alongside grieving families, offering light during the darkest times.
While the Schroeder family did not receive direct services from Sufficient Grace Ministries at the time of their loss, having delivered in Michigan, outside of the organization’s network, they have since become connected to SGM in meaningful ways. More importantly, they personally know several families who have been deeply impacted by the compassionate support SGM provides during times of infant loss. Today, the truth remains that 1 out of 4 pregnant women experience lost. The Schroeder family hopes that establishing this fund is twofold: to create a lasting resource for SGM to continue its mission, and to inspire other families to find healing and purpose by honoring the lives of the little ones they’ve lost. This fund stands as a testament that even the smallest lives leave the deepest imprints.
