Building a Legacy of Generosity, One Piggy Bank at a Time

Piggy Bank Philanthropy continues to show us how powerful youth giving can be, and recent stories from twin brothers Finn and Trig are a beautiful example.

Finn has made it a habit to set aside a portion of any money he earns or receives. Recently, he donated $250 to the Fort Defiance Humane Society. His reason was simple and heartfelt. Pets bring joy to his family, and he wanted to support the shelter that works hard to care for animals without homes. As Finn shared, giving “does good for me and the community.”

Trig’s giving is guided by service and leadership. A recent Eagle Scout, Trig donated $200 to Children’s Lantern, an organization that provides safe and supportive spaces for children in Defiance County. He shared that giving back is essential to fostering a thriving community and is a value he hopes to carry throughout his life.

The brothers also chose to give together. After earning their Eagle Scout rank earlier this month, Finn and Trig donated $236 to St. Vincent Scout Troop 2 in Fort Wayne to help future Scouts who want to become Eagles but may not have the resources to do so. Both boys completed their Eagle projects here in Defiance, supporting Kaitlin’s Cottage and the Defiance Dog Park. Now, they are helping other young people reach the same milestone.

These stories remind us that generosity begins with simple choices and grows into lasting impact. Through Piggy Bank Philanthropy, children like Finn and Trig are learning that giving back is not only possible, it is powerful.
