Privacy Policy
This privacy statement discloses the privacy practices for Defiance Area Foundation (“DAF”). The DAF is committed to the privacy of those individuals who visit and interact with https://defianceareafoundation.org, and follows these practices.
What personally identifiable information does the DAF collect on its site, and how does the organization use it?
The DAF is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. The DAF may collect information from our users at several different points on our website. Such information collected may include gender information, age demographic and household income. There is no expiration date for the information collected.
Log Files
The DAF uses the IP address from your Internet connection to analyze trends, administer the site, track users’ movements, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to any personally identifiable information, unless the user actively registers for services with the DAF where a log-in is issued.
Donations to the Defiance Area Foundation
We request information from the user on our donation form. Users must provide contact information (such as name and address) and financial information. This may include your credit card number, expiration date, bank account information, or other similar information, to conduct such transactions. This information is used for billing purposes and to fill customers’ requests. If we have trouble processing a donation, this information is used to contact the user. Our donations are processed real-time through PayPal, which is a separate site. Please review PayPal’s privacy policies at its site, PayPal Privacy Statement.
Grant Applications
Grant seekers have the ability to submit applications to the DAF through a secure portal called GoApply, which is maintained by our accounting services partner AkoyaGo. Please review AkoyaGo’s privacy policies at its site, akoyaGO | Software for Foundations.
Scholarship Applications

Because most applicants are minors (under the age of 18), parental consent is required. GoApply is maintained by our accounting services partner AkoyaGo. Please review AkoyaGo’s privacy policies at its site, akoyaGO | Software for Foundations.

This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this website.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on the DAF site, unless you actively register for any of our services that may require a log-in to access. At present, the DAF only tracks users’ locations, the type of device you are using, how you got to our site, and the amount of time spent on the site. At present, no other data is collected through the users’ IP addresses. In the event that the DAF uses cookies in the future, users will be asked to accept or reject this type of tracking. If a user rejects the cookie, they may still use our site, but this may limit functionality in some areas of our site. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the users experience on our site but, again, this is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information.
How can I correct any inaccuracies in information I provide or remove myself from the DAF database?
If a user’s personally identifiable information changes (such as your zip code or email address), or if a user no longer desires to subscribe to our services, the DAF will endeavor to provide a way to correct, update or remove that user’s personal data provided to us. Users may opt-out of receiving newsletter and email communications by replying with the “unsubscribe” link in the body of each email.
Notification of Changes
If the DAF decides to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this page so our users are always aware of what information we collect and how we use it.
Special Statement for Users Outside of Ohio
The DAF operates exclusively in the State of Ohio (specifically Defiance County, Ohio), so this privacy policy is intended to comply with privacy laws applicable in the state Ohio. For users residing elsewhere, please consult the laws in your jurisdiction.
